Walking Pad Desk Height Chart: How High Your Desk Needs to Go

By Minh Tran, mechanical designer · Last reviewed Nov 2, 2026

A walking pad adds 4–5 inches to your standing height, so your desk has to go that much higher. Find your height to see the desk height you'll need on popular walking pads, and whether the desks we've checked reach it.

Walking pad desk height by your height

Your standing desk height on a walking pad is your normal standing desk height plus the deck. We used the deck heights of the pads in our walking pad guide; the last column checks the desks in our standing desk guide against the taller deck.

Desk heights include a 1 in desktop for frames sold without one. Deck heights are from manufacturer and listing specs.

Measure your own deck

Deck height varies more than listings suggest, and the belt compresses a little under you. Measure from the floor to the top of the belt, add it to your standing desk height from our calculator (it has a walking pad option), and compare the result with the desk's maximum height including the desktop.

Don't forget the screen

The deck raises your eyes by the same amount, so a monitor set up for standing will be too low on the pad. A monitor arm makes it quick to switch; see the monitor height chart.

If you're tall

Over about 6 ft, few desks reach your standing height plus a 4–5 in deck. See standing desks for tall people for the numbers.

Heights are estimates from average body proportions, measured from the floor in regular shoes (about 1 in); barefoot, subtract about 1 in. Long legs or a long torso can shift them by an inch or two, so fine-tune with our calculator.

FAQ

How high should my desk be with a walking pad?

Your standing desk height plus the deck height. At 5'6" that's about 47.1 in with a typical 4.5 in deck; at 5'10", about 49.6 in.

How tall is a walking pad deck?

Popular models are about 4–5 in: the pads in our guide measure 4.1 in (WalkingPad Z1), 4.9 in (WalkingPad C2).

Will my standing desk work with a walking pad?

Check the desk's maximum height including the desktop against the table above. Many desks that are fine for standing fall short once you add the deck, especially for people over about 5'10".
